Cisco was sold to another company - and our division was rebranded as Synamedia -  and continued working in my existing position. Amongst  projects that I have run recently, are - a security audit of our system, a cost / efficiency review of all our systems, and a finops operation of making savings in our cloud costs - which resulted in a $1m potential saving for the company in future costs. 

In addition I have provided input into the product to organize the sizing of the product - thus enabling better cost controls, and also am deploying the pipeline for continued deployment (CD).

Cisco - Senior Cloud DevOps Engineer and Technical Leader

Installing and developing the latest and greatest Cisco video technologies on various cloud platforms (Openstack and AWS), Post deployment analysis, feedback to R&D on how to better improve the technology with respect to the cloud (efficiency/footprint size) and performance analysis. 
Experience of working on CIS (Cisco) Cloud Infrastructure and AWS, using Terraform, Ansible, Salt, Openstack, and containters (Docker)..

 

Cisco - Senior Systems Integration Manager and Systems Specialist

June 2015 - May 2016

 

• Working as a technical lead in the technical expertise group within the GSS/GSE organization - part of SPVSS department within Cisco. ( The delivery part of projects being supplied to customers).

• Technical consultant on many different projects - helping to fix complex problems that the organization encounters, and producing analysis and reports of the functioning of existing systems.

• Working with many new technologies including OpenStack, Kibana, Logstash, Elasticsearch and attempting to re-organize the department to work within CI/CD and the agile process.

• Building up a CI/CD pipeline based on Jenkins and JFrog Artifactory, and writing supporting infrastructure scripts.

• Part of a agile scrum team to design &  develop infrastructure for an automation testing product.

 

Cisco - Integration and Testing Group Leader

• Group lead and mentor of six to seven I&T Engineers.

• Technical Leader of Systems Integration on 9 multiple project, and one or two development projects.

• Developed infrastructure and software to help the I&T engineers perform their tasks.

• Overseeing design and implementation of complex End 2 End television systems.

• Reviewing and Mentoring junior I&Ts on their project work.

• Customer Facing - many visits to customer sites to perform systems set up, integration, systems test and customer training.

Jan 2002 - December 2007

 

• Senior Integration and Testing Engineer working on multiple (Television) projects (DTH/Cable/IP TV).

• ATP (Test Plan) writing and implementation.

• Complex Problem Analysis and Solutions.

• Various Tools and Infrastructure scripts/programs written in C, Bash, KSH and Perl.

• On site testing at customers.

• Provided input to systems design and R&D on how to improve the overall systems design and deployment.

Seabridge - System Manager

1998 - November 2001

Managed the whole company's Unix infrastructure - including the security access to the internet ( Firewall-1 ), cross compilers for the final product, ( under Solaris ) version control using Clearcase and multisite. Was a team leader over one other junior system manager.

 

Xpert/Tadiran/Seabridge - System Manager

1996 - 1998

Outsourced (by Xpert )as a System Manager to Tadiran for about 1.5 years. Was responsible for all the Unix systems ( Solaris ) that operated within Tadiran Systems LTD. Was team leader, being responsible for one junior systems administrator. As part of Xpert, I was also the Manager of the systems Administrator teams, and was involved with training new collegues. 
After being at Tadiran for 1.5 years, I moved over to Seabridge ( then Radnet ) as the System Manager of the company - involved with helpdesk/unix/networking operations.

Scitex - Senior Software Engineer

1994 - 1996

Was involved with writing the user interface for one of the company's plotters ( The Ripro Output ) - the software was written in C++ under AIX operating system.

ACA (Architecture and Computer Aids)  - Software Engineer

1990 - 1994

Was involved with writting all the User interface software for the package ARC+ - a CAD/CAM package used by architects. All software was written in C originally under DOS - then we moved over to Silicon Graphics SW - SGI ( IRIX ). Was also involved in creating printer drivers for the software. Was also involved in re-writing the whole user interface for use with Windows type dialog boxes.
At the time, also became involved with Novell, and held a part time position as the Novell system admin

British Telecom - Software Engineer

1989 - 1990 

Worked post graduate at BT as a software engineer - working in C on a 'concurrent' Unix system. Wrote various software tools and was involved a lot with system testing of a Network Traffic Management System

Reuters -  Software Engineer (Student) 

1987 - 1988

Worked as a student in the London offices of Reuters - involved with programming various internal projects for the company. Most work was written in C on Unix
